Greetings Bobcat Nation! This was the Black History Month WoW Wednesday spotlight with a focus on trailblazers in Dooly County...people who broke down barriers and paved the way for greater opportunities for all! Like Barack Obama, Shirley Chisolm, Ralph Bunche, Mae Jemison, Ella Fitzgerald, Bill Russell and so many more, these Dooly Countians are also history makers in their own right. They took risks and opened doors. We stand on their shoulders, and we salute them today and always. Though the National Celebration of Black History comes to a close, let's continue to learn about, teach and share the accomplishments of our fellow Americans.

Read Across America Day is March 2, 2024! We will be celebrating literacy and reading the week of March 4-8, 2024. Please see the activities planned for that week. #WeAreDooly #BuildingAFoundationOfExcellence

Congratulations to our Dooly County K-8 students who participated in the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl (HRRB) held this past Saturday at Valdosta State University.
Both Dooly County K8 Academy teams represented Dooly County with dedication, pride, and excellence and earned certificates at the bowl. Elementary team members competing at HRRB were Jayven Anderson, Brittney Argueta, Jaydah Colson, Francisca Lopez, and Bryson McWilliams. Middle school team members included Carlos Argueta, Cole Gaultney, Caydreiana Mitchell, and Axel Monrreal.
Jayven Anderson was the elementary team's high scorer, and Caydreiana Mitchell was the middle school team's high scorer. Fifth grader, Brittney Argueta Ceren led all elementary teams, coaches, and visitors in the Pledge of Allegiance during opening ceremonies. Also during opening ceremonies, the elementary banner carriers were Jayven Anderson and Bryson McWilliams. Proud middle school banner carriers were Carlos Argueta, Cole Gaultney, and Axel Monrreal.
Thank you students for your leadership and to all parents, family members, sponsors and mentors for providing our children and youth yet another experience to expand minds and experiences!

Important Saturday School Announcement!!

Greetings Bobcat Nation!! Today's Wow Wednesday Black History Month Feature was an extreme "Wow" moment for me as I was flipping through Mrs. Sheila Almond's well-kept, school scrapbooks. Among many clippings of great school events was article after article of a two time Olympic Gold medalist from Vienna, GA!! A graduate of Dooly County Schools!!!! Roger Kingdom!
Recently, it was a privilege speaking to Ms. Christine Kingdom and learning more about Roger Kingdom and all of her children including her daughter, Lorrye Borden, who taught 30 years in the Dooly County School System! Here's a link for more information about Roger Kingdom's story:
