🌟 Congratulations to Mrs. Yolanda Duncan, our latest Coin of Distinction recipient!
Mrs. Duncan, our exceptional school counselor, was nominated by Dr. Hollie Walters for her impact on our student and staff wellbeing. She's pioneered several initiatives including grief support groups and REACH scholarship coordination, while managing our PBIS program with innovative additions like chapter books to encourage reading.
Beyond our halls, she serves as the Rural Counselor Liaison for the Georgia Association of School Counselors, recently sharing her expertise in "The Beacon" publication. Her commitment to mental health support, SEL implementation, and leadership makes her an invaluable member of our school community.

INTENT TO OPT OUT OF HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION
The Dooly County Board of Education intends to opt out of the statewide adjusted base year ad valorem homestead exemption for the Dooly County School District. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this matter to be held at the Dooly County Board of Education Central Office Board Room on January 23, 2025, at 6:00 PM.
Times and places of additional public hearings on this matter will be held at the Dooly County Board of Education Central Office Board Room on February 6, 2025, at 1:00 PM and February 20, 2025, at 5:00 PM.

Exciting day for our DCHS JROTC Rifle Team!
Our Bobcats faced off against Wilcox County in a marksmanship competition where Joshua O'Hara and Ashly Bautista showcased their exceptional skills. Joshua earned top male shooter honors while Ashly secured the top female shooter position for our school.
The team also had a wonderful opportunity to visit Wilcox County High School's FFA animal class. A special thank you to Mrs. Willingham for letting our shooters meet the goats and learn about the FFA program.

Congratulations to our 2024 REACH Scholarship winners, Ms. Bre'Anna Jones and Mr. Ever López! Today they signed their official paperwork to each receive a $10,000 scholarship to attend the Georgia college of their choice.
We are incredibly proud of these outstanding scholars and their commitment to academic excellence. Way to go, Bre'Anna and Ever!
Parents, please remember: Dooly County Schools will have early dismissal this Friday, December 20th for parent-teacher conferences.
Winter Break begins Monday, December 23rd, and all schools will remain closed through January 2nd. Students will return to class on Monday, January 6th, 2025.
