The focus of this spotlight is on trailblazers in Dooly County...people who broke down barriers and paved the way for greater opportunities for all! Like Barack Obama, Shirley Chisolm, Ralph Bunche, Mae Jemison, Ella Fitzgerald, Bill Russell and so many more, these Dooly Countians are also history makers in their own right. They took risks and opened doors. We stand on their shoulders, and we salute them today and always. Though the National Celebration of Black History comes to a close, let's continue to learn about, teach and share the accomplishments of our fellow Americans.
