Vienna, GA---REACH GA Scholars Program is first and foremost, a mentorship program that provides our students the encouragement and motivation to graduate high school, enroll in a Georgia post-secondary institution and graduate from that institution. In order to become a REACH GA Scholar, the student has to be a current 8th grade student; be nominated, apply via an application; go through an interview conducted by a chosen panel; and lastly, have the application and interview scored and submitted to REACH GA for selection verification.
According to Mrs. Yolanda Duncan, Program Coordinator, "Our REACH GA Scholar for the 2022-2023 school year is Claudia Lofton. She was selected because of her poise and having future goals. She will benefit from the mentorship in high school to assist her in making sure she has the support to be on track to graduate. Once she enrolls in college, she will have the financial support for whatever expenses she will acquire in order for her to accomplish her collegiate goals. Going forward, having the REACH GA Scholars Program in the Dooly County School System will provide our students opportunities to attend a college or university here in Georgia. Having the financial support will alleviate some financial obligations from parents so our students' potential can be personified!"
