The prestigious Young Georgia Authors (YGA) Writing Competition has been engaging Georgia public school students in grades K-12 for more than two decades. YGA encourages students to develop enthusiasm for and expertise in their individual writing. The competition provides a context to celebrate independent writing successes and to recognize student achievement in arts and academics. YGA is sponsored by the Georgia Language Arts Supervisors and the Georgia RESA Network with support from the Georgia Department of Education.
Students in Dooly County Schools who have earned first place in the district writing contest will now compete at the regional level amongst school systems within the Chattahoochee-Flint RESA and then, possibly advance to the state level.
