The Dooly County School System celebrated National School Lunch Week recently. Dr. Sherrod Willaford, Interim Superintendent and Mrs. Holly Black, Curriculum Director and other faculty and staff joined the Nutrition Program staff to serve students lunch for a day. Some of the greatest highlights of the day included being able to see each student and lending support to our hard working school nutrition team who provide the best and most nutritious meals to our students and staff. Congress adopted National School Lunch Week over 60 years ago, and the Level Up theme this year highlights how the school lunch program has been a "game changer" for students and their families. Dooly County School System Nutrition Program - we salute you and appreciate all that you do! #ThisisDooly! #IamDooly! #WeareDooly!

Happy Boss' Day to Dr. Sherrod Willaford, Interim Superintendent of Dooly County Schools. Dr. Willaford was recognized today by staff, as well as students! Kaleb Green presented Dr. Willaford with a gift on behalf of the Student Advisory Council, and later in the district cabinet meeting, the District Leadership Team honored him with several gifts, cupcakes and balloons! We appreciate all that you do to advance the Dooly County School District Dr. Willaford! #ThisisDooly! #IamDooly! #WeareDooly!

FYI: Unadilla Food Drive/Pantry Update for October 2023

Hello DCHS Sophomore,
You are scheduled to take the PSAT/NMSQT on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. This year’s administration of the test will be computer based. Remember to get plenty of sleep the night before and have a nutritious breakfast the morning before the test.
Be prepared with everything you need for a smooth and successful test day. There is not a lot you will need to bring on test day. You can bring an approved calculator. There is a graphing calculator built into the app, but you can bring your own if you like. Be sure to bring extra batteries for it just in case. You'll be better off leaving some items at home. The following items are prohibited during the test and breaks on test day:
*Phones, smartwatches, fitness trackers or any other wearable technology
*Audio players, Bluetooth devices such as wireless headphones/earbuds
*Notes, books or other reference materials
*Compasses, rulers, protractors, or cutting devices
*Headphones, earbuds, or earplugs
*Any camera or any type of audio/video recording device or timer
*Unapproved calculators – Calculators that have computer-style (QWERTY) keyboards, use paper tape, make noise or use a power cord.
If your prohibited electronic device makes noise in your possession or you are seen with it at any time, including during breaks, you may be dismissed immediately, your scores may be canceled, and the device may be confiscated, and its contents inspected.
CollegeBoard also encourages students to prepare for the test by practicing. The links below offer several resources for preparing for the PSAT/NMSQT.

The Dooly County School System hosted "Dips and Dialogue" for its annual Title I and Family Engagement night on September 28, 2023. It was an evening for the Federal Programs Department and school leaders to share information about the Title I budget, academic data and the resources, enrichment and interventions that are provided to students. Students were the highlight of the evening as the Dooly K-8 Art program displayed many of their works of art, the 3rd grade class sang an African folk welcome song, and the marching band played several crowd pleasing selections. Families were also able to visit with various departments and agencies to discuss the resources they provide. They received information about family engagement policies and plans and school compacts and were able to provide feedback and ideas through the family engagement survey.

DCSS Department of School Nutrition had "udderly" amazing interactions with students on World School Milk Day, September 28, 2023. The celebration acknowledges the successes of school milk programs and the health benefits of milk for children which includes nutrients such as calcium, iodine, and vitamins B-12 and B2. At Dooly K-8, students were greeted by school nutrition mascots and were awarded prizes for answering questions and participating in games during lunch. At the high school, the focus was during breakfast where students were treated with delicious cold, flavored coffees. Adding the flavored coffees such as French Vanilla, Caramel and Smore's increased breakfast participation seventy three percent.

Grab your controllers and get ready to level up with school lunch! Healthy school meals are the perfect power-ups to set kids up to conquer whatever challenges they face. #NSLW23 #LevelUpWithSchoolLunch
